50 Shades of Blue: Basic Plot and Characters

So, I think I'm mostly going to stick with some things from the Brainstorm. Mainly these key points:

• In the year 5,000 space and time travel is possible. Space travel at near light speeds is common using an as-of-yet undiscovered fuel derived from plants. They rich, academics, criminals and police also have time travel which is possible through wormholes.
• The police who monitor time are actually called The Coalition... or something and they monitor time crime and are actually manipulating the past subtly to have control over the present and the future. They generally recruit the children of time travelers born in other times to work for them.
• Children born of time travelers in the past have unique properties. Mainly they can see ripple effects from changes in the timeline and they can remember the original timeline before time travel entered the picture. This is quite rough on them and most are declared schizophrenic at an early age because if they grow up in the time they were born in, then their whole life is a ripple effect. They can remember what things would be like if they were never born. Some kill themselves at surprisingly early ages. If they reach adulthood or are found by the Coalition, they make for perfect agents. However, the Coalition can’t track all of these children down. Others become prophets like Sibyl or Cassandra who no one believes.
• Known Rules of Time Travel:
•  One cannot make a change to the future that will result in one’s death prior to one’s “present.
•  If a life is saved in the past, changes to the past will also lead to a similar life ended. Likewise, if a person dies in the past that would not have died otherwise, a death that would not have occurred will be prevented.

With that in mind, the story is pretty simple. 

• Female protagonist is the child of a Time Criminal and someone from our time, raised in our time after female criminal went into hiding from the Coalition.
• Female criminal dies leaving Protagonist to birth father's family.
• Mother's partner from criminal days finds her obituary and finds out about her daughter. He looks up the daughter and finds she's set to die soon so he rescues her with his own plot to use her abilities for his criminal activities and just having fun with time travel. She's his new tool and a replacement goldfish for his old partner.
• The Coalition is after them both. They want to apprehend male criminal and recruit the daughter for her gifts

The Characters would consist of:

• Female Protagonist (I'm thinking of giving her the name Tesni Cyngus. Tesni is Spanish for "Earth" and "Cygnus" means "swan" and it's a constellation with a star that has 42 planets in the Goldilocks zone. I'm thinking her mother could be from there originally and that's her (the mother's) way of remembering where she's from.
• Time Criminal who I'm probably going to name Phineas G. Wright because I've wanted to name a character that since I lived in Connecticut and found the name on a headstone that was a bust of the man. The middle name can be appropriately weird and otherworldly or Gavin.
• Coalition Agent After the Duo: I don't know his or her name yet. It may be two people or more. At least two are like Tesni.
• Protagonist's Mother: In a world with time travel, death can't stop the mother from being a character. I so want to do a scene where she goes see her mother before the mother dies and have both her and the time traveler have their talks with the mother. I think her name should be strange or related to mythology or something. I was thinking one of the Seven Sisters with Cygnus for the last name as well. Maybe Maia though Callixta has also drawn my eye for some reason.
• Protagonists Father: He's going to be a scientist of some sort (mom would only be attracted to brainy sort) I randomly selected Erik Anderson for his name with the help of Cyn and Tam.
• Grandmother's Name: Since father will be too busy with science, Tess will be with her grandparents, obviously. Her name was randomly selected to be Louise Anderson with the help of Cyn and Tam.
• Grandfather's Name: His  name was randomly selected to be Thomas Anderson with the help of Cyn and Tam.
• Minority Best Friend: He's going to be a transvestite but not gay to fill the best friend and possible love triangle role. His name will be Vincent Bentley because I just like the way those two names sound together.
• Coalition Members After Main Characters: Haven't given much thought to them but one may be a love interest as well. Let's just seed the whole story with potential love interests and have nothing happen, hmm? Oh, is that a bad idea? Well, I'm feeling rather flippant for now so one will definately be named John Smith and let's have a Sophia Johnson (current most popular female name and second most popular surname) too just for shits and giggles.
