Character Profile: Fineas Wright
Name: Finneas
Wright
Full Name: Fineas
Gethin Wright
Nick Names: Fin, Finny
Wright, Ass Wright, Gethy...
Gender: Male
Age: 37
Birthday/year:
September 23, 5139 C.E. (Gregorian Calender)
Marital Status:
Single
Spouse: N/A
Hair: Thick, dark
brown that curls quite a bit. Fin generally keeps it clipped very short
or even shaves it to keep it out of his way and convenient
Eyes: Fineas has
brown eyes, but his left eye has a hetero-chromia where about 1/3 of the lower
left section of his left eye is baby blue. His eyes also have a slightly Asiatic
shape to them.
Origin: Fin was
born on the planet, Alpha Kepler which revolves around a star people on Earth
can see in the constellation, Cygnus, in the country of Daquaia. His country
was among those bought and planned for refugees on Earth from religious wars.
His great-great grandfather had to sign a contract to agree to uphold the laws
of religious tolerance. The particular Daquaian city Fin grew up in was called
Toivo which was a small city located on a river. Obviously, Fin was born
thousands of years in the future.
Language: Fin
speaks Daquaian-style-Cygnian which is an amalgamation of English, Finnish and
Russian with a bit of Greek mixed in. He's also fluent in Anglo-Cygnian (more
of a mixture between English, Spanish and Chinese and the common tongue for
most human-occupied planets, especially Alpha-Kepler). He can also speak our
modern English and French fluently. He's also got a special microchip located
behind his left ear, similar to a hearing aide which translates any language
spoken to him into something he can intuitively understand. It doesn't allow
him to speak that language though. He's still working on that upgrade.
Blood Type: Mumbai
bloodtype (he calls it Type Q)
Height: 6'4
Weight/Body
Structure/Physical Faults: Fin is a tall and lean man with dusty to olive
skin and very little in the way of muscle at first glance. He got scars on his
hands and knuckles as though he's gotten into some fights, but he also have
other scars from where he's installed tech into himself to make
"improvements" like a language translator behind his left ear, an
emergency defibrillator under the skin and over his heart in his chest (like a
pacemaker, but for anyone), a watch literally under the skin of the inside of
his left wrist which comes with an LED flashlight, and pouches on the inside
lining of his cheeks and built into his upper thigh just to hide stuff. Fin's
constantly looking for more things improve his body. He's considering gills,
but that surgery can go awry. Oh, and he has contact lenses that hook him up to
the internet, and give him telescopic and microscopic vision. They also have a
video feed and everything he sees gets stored into the portable hard drive
attached to his language translator.
Race/Species: Fin
is 100% human with some technological modifications to make him
"better"... well, in his opinion. His parents on Earth (over 1,000
years before his was born) were from the British Isles and India with some
ancestry from the Philippines, China, and Alaska.
Parents/Elders/Guardian:
Fin was raised by his mother, Idris Wright and his father, Coriander Wright.
His mother was a school teacher and his father worked as a mechanic for rocket
ships and he was frequently away off planet.
Siblings: Fin had
a little sister, Sini Wright, who was born when he was fifteen years old and
away at a special school for gifted boys. He never really got close to her, but
he was always very protective of her.
Friends/Allies:
For many years, Fin's best friend was Maia Nibanyen (changed to Cygnus eventually)
they met while at University and became fast friends for their higher
intelligence, strange demeanors, and proclivity for mischief. Fin took Maia on
his first experimental hop through time using a homemade device to create a
wormhole. They ended up going 100 years to the past where they were rescued by
Tuomas Varhofyen, an agent of Gambol Dynamics, a company that hired Tuomas and
his partner, Octavo Forrester to maintain their interests throughout time.
Gambol Dynamics immediately took an interest in Fin and Maia and hired them
onto the "team" with Tuomas and Octavo, neither realizing what they
were doing was illegal... in their time. Fin, Maia, Tuomas, and Octavo were
friends and teammates until Tuomas retired and became more of a distant mentor,
but Tuomas is still the one Fin will go to when he's in trouble... especially
after Maia retired as well.
Enemies: The
Coalition. Fin doesn't like them or trust them to have society's best interest
at heart. At least Gambol Dynamics is honest about where their interests lie.
Fin also really doesn't trust anyone ultimately so they all become his enemies
eventually.
Beliefs/Religion:
Fin was raised Shaivite Hindu, but he's mostly an agnostic. He still reveres the
holidays when he lands in a time near them, but otherwise he just goes on with
his life and doesn't give it much thought.
Career/Past Careers: Fin
is a time criminal, but an odd sort of one. He works for a company called
Gambol Dynamics. His job is to do whatever he can utilizing time travel to keep
the company from losing money from money-making schemes otherwise impossible to
spotting danger to the company in the future and preventing it from happening
from warning them about bad investments to helping them prevent a few laws from
being broken. He's one of a team that's found itself getting smaller and
smaller as the Coalition tries to do away with any illegal, unlicensed time
travel. He doesn't scheme. He doesn't play with lives. He just travels in time
and collects useful information and money and investments.
Dreams/Life Goals: When Fin was younger he had a lot of dreams about changing the world for the better and making things better for everyone, but now his biggest dream and goal is to pretty much find the one thing to make his life, job, and freedom more secure. He tries not to think of much more because it would just depress him. On the other hand, if he could find that one thing to bring the Coalition down and stop the way so many people are abusing time travel for prophet (including the Coalition), he'd be a very happy man.
Hobbies: Fin is what people would call a "tech head" or a geek. He's obsessed with technology. He likes to play with it, use it to improve on the human experience and just improving things all around. He's usually got some technological experiment he's running either on himself or in a private lab he has set up at Gambol Dynamics. Fin's also a big fan of history and that's part of why he got into time travel in the first place. He's especially a fan of man's forms of self-defense, fighting and replacements for fighting (chess and go) over the years.
Likes: Money. You can't do anything without money, you can't buy materials needed to play with tech without money. Finny like money. Money good. Fin also likes anything with wires, anything he can take apart and put back together again. He likes scantily clad women, obviously. He also likes running and making things up as he goes along.
Dislikes: Reminders of man's inhumanity to man. There's a reason he won't go anywhere near the Holocaust, the Trail of Tears, the Degradations, the Inquisition, etc. He also gets easily annoyed by guileless and artless people because he knows that someday they'll be ruined. Fin also dislikes broccoli and bacon... and most foods that begin with the letter "b" in English.
Loathes: The Coalition. The Weak. The Rich. People who try to control information and technology. People who ask stupid questions. Chipmunks. Never trust those or any rodents for that matter.
Fears: In all of time and space, anything a single conscious being does, does not matter in the slightest and it will all come to nothing in the end. He's also afraid of catching a deadly disease and dying. He's also afraid of being alone.
Strengths: Fin is highly intelligent and gifted when it comes to technology. Give him a piece of tech and he can usually figure out what it is, what it does, how to disable it and how to use it in short order. He built his first fission battery at the age of 11 and succeeded at time travel at the age of 25. If he doesn't know something or is unable to do something, he can usually design a piece of tech to enable him to know or learn it quickly.
Weaknesses: Pretty much everything else. Fin isn't very coordinated. He isn't a people-person. He doesn't really have a head for business, but he can count money and do basic mathematics... and above. Fin is good at one thing and he tries to use it to make up for his many weaknesses. Oftentimes, he fails.
Good Qualities: Fin is a stubborn, man who pretty much does anything for money anymore. However, he does have a protective streak and if a person matters to him, he'll do anything to make that person happy, even give them up to that thing. Then, he'll do whatever he can to protect that person and the thing that makes them happy. When he loves a person, he can be surprisingly selfless.
Bad Habits: If you don't matter to Fin, you're just a number. You're just a thing. He can't try to make the whole world happy so he just focuses on particular people and everyone else is just a thing to be used or discarded. It makes the world simpler that way. They're all just wires and filaments and nanobots... except nanobots are a hell of a lot more interesting. Fin also can't keep his hands still and he needs something to tinker with in his hands at all times... even a mechanical pen or a Rubix Cube.
Turn Ons: If a woman is buxom, curvaceous and wearing something very... alluring. He's attractive to them. Though he prefers thick, curly hair and big blue eyes with pouty lips, etc. etc. However, he's more turned on by someone who is as intelligent as him or close to it and willing to argue with him and learn from him. He especially likes arguing.
Turn Offs: Meek women. Stupid women who don't even know what pi is. Very masculine men or women who are more muscle than anything else. He also really hates guiless and artless people and sees it as a sign of stupidity.
Normal Talents: Fin is amazing with technology. He can build anything with whatever's in his pockets for whatever occasions and the extra stuff he's done to his body only help him in that regard (although he's had to be careful to make sure it's only things that won't get in the way of normal bodily functions). He's also highly intelligent in general and well-versed in most academic subjects to at least a competent level (which is well above average by modern standards).
Supernatural Powers & Abilities: Fin has a small amount of what people in the future call "Influence" it's a form or hypnotic suggestion that basically means you can tell someone without Influence something and they'll believe you without question so long as it's within reasonable expectation. He levels about average in his own time with the rest of the population meaning he can't use it on them, but he can use it on people in the past to make them do what he wants. It also generally works on Time Children, children born in the past to time travelers and someone they met from that time. He's also set up a nanobot system in his body that helps repair his tissue and prevent any possible negative effects due to time travel. He's got a defibrillator in his chest that keeps his heart pumping no matter what. He's got a gadget built into the back of his ear that translates any language for him, special contacts that help him see and surf the Internet free of charge, and a watch under the skin of his left wrist with a lot of nifty tools and it can plug into a surface watch which is also a computer and do even more nifty things. With holograms.
Temperament: Fin is also an introvert, but he acts like an extrovert. He likes to talk. He likes to make friends. He likes to show off how much smarter he is than everyone else. He also likes to think about how stupid and slow everyone is as he does it. He's flippant. He's quick to judge, quicker to use people for his benefit and quickest to throw them away when he's done with them. He is not a nice person and he'll rip you apart if you try to come between him and something he's decided he wants or needs. And God help you if its something one of his friends need instead. Fin is incredibly loyal and stubborn as an ox. If he decides to choose a side or do something, he's sure to stick with it until it seems like things are going to end badly. Usually, that's when he turns it around to something good. However, Fin's sense of self-preservation is a little too strong for any one's good and he's likely to sacrifice you in favor of survival any day, but that's any human. He has no faith in people being inherently good. In fact, he generally believes that the universe itself is a horrible place, but dying isn't an option on the table. Get over it.
