Doctor Who Reviews


I haven't done a proper Doctor Who Review since September 18, 2013. That's over eleven months and counting now. And I'm sorry for that.

I'm so, so sorry.

I sort of got stuck at this silly serial called The Macra Terror and it turned into a kind of block that I repeatedly tried to get past, but I stayed stuck right there. It's a weird group of episodes and I don't know if I'm ever going to get past it, but when I do, the Doctor Who Reviews will restart and go back into weekly service.

Until then, if you want some Doctor Who Reviews done fairly well that go through the old series, Diamanda Haggan on Channel Awesome/That Guy With the Glasses had a pretty good series that makes a lot of interesting points. So, go over there and watch them since they're faster and better quality than mine and I'll come back with my Doctor Who reviews... when I do.

It may be weeks.

It may be months.

It may be another year.

But when I get back, I'll do my best to keep going until their done because... well... What else do I have to do with my time?

The Celestial Toymaker  is the twenty-fourth serial of Doctor Who  or the seventh serial of Season Three of the series. It originally aired in fourth weekly parts between April 2 and 23, 1966. Like most of the serials of Season Three, this serial is missing episodes. In this case, it is the first three episodes of the serial with the final episode still in the BBC archives. So, once again, I'll be mostly watching a Loose Cannon Inc. reconstruction. I would say that I'm getting to enjoy these reconstructions, but I would be lying through my teeth. I don't know much about the Toymaker himself other than the fact that the Doctor was invisible at the end of the last serial with the Refusians getting the blame for some reason while the Doctor denied the possibility of that. We'll get to see in this serial what's really going on... I hope! Two Hours Later... Well... That was interesting. Once again, I find myself wishing these serials weren't missing.

Once Upon a Time

Soap Opera Fairy Tales! So... last year, there were two new shows available to watch on two big channels that heavily featured fairy tales as part of their plot.  The first one I heard of and saw commercials for was Grimm  which was created by the some of the people who helped write Buffy the Vampire Slayer  and Angel .  In fact, it sort of looked like a detective show (a la Angel ) about a person from a long line of monster hunters (a la Buffy the Vampire Slayer ).  It wasn't too far off the mark from what was promised and I figured I'd like it more than the other  fairy tale-based TV show that was also being made that year. That other show turned out to be Once Upon a Time...  or as my friend and I call it OUaT or as I think I'll call it from now on... OUT.  Seems fitting for some reason. Doctor Who: An Introduction

All these men are the same person. Savvy? So, I've reviewed a Doctor Who  episode, and I've gone over all the cool things I absolutely love  about various other shows and at some point I usually end up bringing up Doctor   Who  because it is one of my all-time favorite TV series out there. However, I always feel bad calling myself a Whovian ( Doctor Who  fan) because I've only seen the New Series. I've seen an episode here and there of the old series. I remember one evening I decided to watch what Netflix had, but that was spotty and best and I'm not sure how exemplary The Aztecs  is of the First Doctor's run. Okay, for people new to the blog and modern television or Star Trek  fans, I need to explain one thing otherwise you'll all be lost. Doctor Who  is a British science fiction television series produced by the BBC.
