Strengths: Anise is intelligent like most of the people she associates with possessing remarkable knowledge of science and the way the world works (physics not sociology). She also has trained herself in mixed martial arts to keep herself strong. Little does she know she also has the remarkable talent to not die.

Weakness: Anise has no natural or inherent talent in magic. She can’t make it work for her no matter how hard she tries. She’s also not very skilled in languages. She also tends to not understand people so well and has little empathy for other people and their problems.

Good Qualities: Anise cares deeply for her family and her friends. She’ll help them with anything no matter what they need her for. She tries as hard as possible to be there for her friends and family even when things are somewhat inconvenient for Anise. Anise also does her best to share her love of science with other people, much to their disinterest and boredom at times.

Bad Habits: Anise is very judgmental of other people. Also, she tends to chew on the ends of her fingers when she’s nervous or thinking seriously about things. Not her nails, just her finger tips. She drums her fingers and taps her foot when she’s bored.

Temperament: Anise is an intelligent introvert with some extrovert tendencies. She has a close group of friends, who she seeks out the friendship of, but other than them, she doesn’t generally seek out her friends, but she’s very sociable with people trying to convince them that the world is filled with natural wonders without the supernatural. Anise has little patience for the willfully ignorant or those who just seem stupid for whatever reason. She also doesn’t have much of an opinion of those who waste time.

Background: Anise was born May 8, 1991 to Marjoram and Alexander Butler. Anise was the only child and apple of their eye for five wonderful years. Then they died in a car accident with a drunk driver and Anise had to go live with her grandmother, Coriander Puckett who lived in the same city as Anise and her parents so Anise didn’t have to change the school she just started on top of losing her parents. Anise’s grandmother raised her to be respectful, to understand magic as much as she could, and to appreciate the universe for what it was. Anise learned early on she didn’t have a talent for magic, but she did have a talent for science and she dove fully into that with passion and verve.

Anise grew up around magic, knowing she wasn’t very good at it, but she didn’t let that bring her down instead focusing on what she was good at. That didn’t stop her from knowing about magic or doing what she could to help her friends and family who did love magic. Anise strove always to find a scientific law or explanation behind magic. She’s still working toward that. The trouble is that most people either know fully about science or magic. Few appreciate both like Anise does. Of course, then she nearly died due to an accident at Porfirio’s shop. That should’ve been the end of Anise’s story, but it was just the beginning.
