Temperament: Ben is a good guy who can be very laid back. However, he frequently isn't very laid back because he is in charge of the American Branch of the Council of Magic. He has to be serious because magic is serious business. He relaxes when he is at home with his wife and his children. Otherwise, he is all business all the time. He's an introverted guy who is mostly concerned with his own studies in magic and thoughts.

Background: Ben was born to Benjamin and Anna Kramer on February 3, 1959. Just a few years before, his brother Benjamin was born. Shortly after his birth, his mother, Anna, died of ovarian cancer. Ben and his brother were trained in the art of magic by their father. Benjamin excelled in magic while Jack excelled in school and in the theory part of magic. They grew up and both boys joined the Council of Magic as agents to protect the public from those that would abuse magic for personal gain.

The Benjamin was wounded by a dark wizard and it as draining his life. Jack refused to lose his brother and turned to magic to save Benjamin. In the end, the only cure as a forbidden spell that would enable Ben to live so long as others died in his place. Jack didn't want to lose his brother, so he enacted the spell. However, Benjamin wasn't a willing participant of the spell causing it to backfire most spectacularly, turning Jack into a vampire-like being who needs to feed on the lives of those who he sacrifices every month to keep Ben alive.

Ben was furious with his brother, telling Jack he had sold his soul. Despite the fact that he would die, Benjamin decided the only right thing to do was to kill Jack to prevent him from hurting others. Ben survived killing his brother, believing that Jack sacrificed himself to allow Benjamin to continue to live. Ben has done everything in his power to make sure Jack's sacrifice wasn't in vain.

He quickly rose in the ranks of the council, met his beautiful wife, and had three wonderful children. Ben has lived a full life that his brother couldn't have. He continues to fight the good fight and keep things going.
